Adolph bill aims to ease amended tax filing

In an effort to make the process of filing an amended state tax return easier, state Rep. Bill Adolph, R-165, of Springfield, has introduced legislation that will establish a separate tax return form specifically for amended returns.

House Bill 2673 would establish a separate annual tax return form specifically for amended returns. As the system stands, a single annual tax return can be used for both annual returns and amended annual returns. There is a specific section to indicate whether the form is for an annual return or an amended return but Adolph said it's not clear enough. The new form for amended tax returns would be PA-40X.
