Letter to the editor

(April 2008)

To the editor:

I am writing to thank all local residents who turned out and exercised their right to vote on Tuesday, April 22nd.

I was impressed with the 60 percent turnout among registered Democrats.  But I was equally impressed with the so 26 percent turnout among registered Republicans.  These  individuals still came out to vote despite few competitive races above the level of local committee person.

I especially want to thank all of the individuals who helped to work and operate the polls for a job well done.  These individuals spend hours at the polls assisting individuals with the voting process and ensuring that everything proceeded smoothly on Tuesday.  They are to be commended for their service.

It is great to see a renewed interest in politics and public policy.  I look forward to discussing issues with voters such as fiscal responsibility, protecting the environment, improving education, and providing affordable healthcare in the months to come.

Sincerely,

State Representative Bill Adolph (R-165)
